What kind of work do I do?
I specialize in identity design, motion graphics, digital video, presentations, and web site design. For more substantial jobs where I need a few necks to help me out, I assemble teams of outside experts as necessary to address your specific needs. You get better talent without paying for unused overhead. Here are some examples of services.
- Identity Design – logo design, letterhead, and business cards. Animated bumpers and network ID.
- Motion Graphics – computer graphic animation for logos, identity, infographics, and compositing.
- Digital Video Editing – editing on Avid Media Composer* or Apple Final Cut Pro* systems.
- DVD Authoring – menu design and DVD creation. Convert VHS to DVD.
- Presentations – Adobe Flash* or PowerPoint*. Brochures, handouts for meetings, reports, or product summaries.
- Web Design – web site design. Adobe Flash animation, interface, or application production.
Media
I don't provide a product that flies, it's a product with legs. I can take your presentation to any popular format Here is a list of the most common media formats I work in:
- Web – HTML, Flash
- Video – BetaSP, VHS
- Digital video – DVD, CDROM, movie file for playback on computer
- Print – brochures, business cards, envelopes, or letterhead. Handouts for meetings.
- Stand-alone presentation – Adobe Flash, Microsoft PowerPoint*, Apple Keynote*, or a movie file for playback on computer
For example, say you hire the Space Ostrich to design your identity. It turns out so well you want to extend the promotion to every medium imaginable. You don't have to find a vendor for reproducing your identity in every medium, a very costly and time consuming process. I can produce a stand alone flash presentation you can make available on your web site, intranet, or locally on your computer. Need a CD-ROM to send out to clients? A PowerPoint presentation? Easily done. Or a DVD for your computer and DVD player, a VHS for your grandma, a print brochure for mass mailing or meeting handouts, its all possible. Your identity can walk to any medium you choose. Your working with a Space Ostrich, I need only spread my wings, and run!
Revisions
A typical job will include three passes at revisions. This does not count if the client returns and changes the scope of a project, only on revising the content of what was originally agreed upon. When the job is complete, please request a CD or DVD backup of your project. If you have a knowledgeable staff you should go in and make your quick revisions to content. Beware, altering the design can bring chaos where there was once order. If you understand and are familiar with your content, you may not see the harm of going in, re-arranging a few bits and adding some more here and there. Beware though, design is a balance, and you may not see the error but your audience, not being familiar with the content, may end up frustrated. I encourage my clients to revise as they see fit, but a quick phone call could be all that's needed to keep things in tact.
